Building a Shed from Scratch

There are many different sheds available from most local garden centres and DIY stores however these can often be drafty or expensive for what they deliver.

When we wanted a shed to be used as an office come storage room it needed to be dry, well insulated and secure, the initial offerings that met our basic criteria were extremely expensive and the lower budget ones did little to offer basic insulation and security requirements.

As we couldn’t find an off the shelf solution that met our needs we started looking for solutions that we could build ourselves and searched the web looking for different designs. The American government had a number of plans available however they were all written in their terminology and referenced materials available in the USA only.

We found one web site that gave us the inspiration to actually have a go ourselves and build one of our own design that met our requirements, whilst this site proposed a basic shed it was easy to see how it could be changed to meet our needs so we set about designing our own shed.

The following pages give all the details we collected during our successful build of or new shed.
