DIY Tools

Its a simple question; What tools should I have in my toolbox? The answer, unfortunately, is not a simple list. It varies enormously depending upon what your skills are and what you are most likely going to attempt.

There is of course a basic set which I would say is mainly a maintenance toolkit, these will enable you to carry out the basic repairs around the house.

This kit should contain:

Claw Hammer Flat Bladed Screwdriver Posidrive(tm) or Philips(tm) screwdriver
Tape Measure Electric / Cordless Drill (Dual Hammer & Normal) Drill Bits Masonary
Adjustable Spanner Spirit Level Drill Bit, High Speed Steel (HSS)
Straight Scraper Craft Knife Set Square
Universal Saw Pliers

I've avoided electrical tools in the above list although if you are competent enough I would add a mains tester to the list.

In addition to this you should have a good ladder something like a Black & Decker Workmate(tm)

You may think the above is a lot of tools however if you take a look at our list of tools you'll soon see that you could keep on adding to the list.
